DESIREE's Story
Desiree Asare has always had a knack for writing and reading. She was often found immersed in a book or jotting down random pieces. Most of the time, she would read newspapers in foreign languages. Did she understand them? No, but her response now is, “They were still words with meaning. Even if I didn’t understand them, my soul probably did.”
Desiree loves all kinds of stories. She goes through phases where she reads thrillers, romance, fantasy, crime, and more. To her, a great story is simply a great story. She has recently become interested in mafia and dark romance due to TikTok's brave portrayal of femininity's innate submissive yet powerful character. She began her reading journey with the classics, and the first foreign author she read was Agatha Christie. The book, which belonged to her mother, made her believe for the longest time that its title was “Agatha Christie” until she sought to recapture that nostalgic feeling.
Born and raised in Ghana, Desiree developed a deep love for literature and received much praise for her writing skills. She later moved to the Netherlands, where her passion for books faded as she found herself lost in a city and country that no longer felt like home after the passing of her loved ones. She attended college and now works in the healthcare system while also studying law.
Slowly but surely, Desiree remembered what home had always been to her. She took up the pen again—or rather, let her fingers dance on the keyboard—to find solace. After years of writing, she hesitated to publish, feeling that something was always missing.
But finally, here we are with her debut novel:
The Deadly Prooise.
